A recent article in the Georgia Times Union newspaper reported a story that is all too common these days. The article concerned a collision between two passenger vehicles in Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia.

A Brunswick woman and two young children were slightly injured when the SUV they were traveling in was struck by a Ford Taurus that overturned the SUV. The other two children in the SUV were not injured. The driver of the Taurus and the child in her vehicle were not injured.

Apparently the Taurus pulled out of a shopping center and onto Highway 341 and struck the SUV rolling the SUV onto it’s roof. The driver of the Taurus was cited by police for failing to yield the right of way.

Thankfully there were no serious injuries as a result of this accident because the drivers and passengers were all wearing seat belts. Just the simple act of wearing a seat belt saves lives everyday in accidents like this one.

What if the people in the SUV had been more seriously injured, or even worse, killed? What kind of rights would you have in such an accident?

Whenever you get behind the wheel of a car and drive on any public street you owe a certain duty of care toward others on the road. This duty of care is to help prevent traffic accidents, and if an accident occurs this duty of care helps law enforcement officers determine who, if anyone, is at fault in the accident.

If you, a loved one, or someone you know has been injured in such an accident and the fault was the other driver’s, then you have certain rights as well. In such cases it is not advisable to try to work with the at fault driver’s insurance company alone. You need the help of dedicated, experienced attorneys.

The insurance company’s representatives will try to get you to settle your claim for the least amount of money possible. You have certain rights that the insurance company will not want to talk to you about. Rights such as compensation for all your medical bills, compensation for your lost wages as a result of the accident, and most importantly compensation for your pain and suffering.

The attorneys at The Williams Litigation Group are just the dedicated and experienced attorneys you need working on your side to make sure that you are treated fairly and with respect by the at fault driver’s insurance company. We also make sure that, if your claim settles, it settles for what you deserve and not a penny less.

Finally, if your case does not settle, and you are forced to file a claim in court, the attorneys at The Williams Litigation Group are experienced trial lawyers. We are not afraid to go to trial. This is what we do, and we can provide the same care, dedication, and experience for your claim.

Recently it was reported that a five year old girl had died because someone at a medical clinic in McDonough, Georgia, gave her a lethal dose of lidocaine.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young girl’s family and friends as they go through this difficult and tragic situation.

These shocking revelations come from the Henry County Coroner’s Office who investigated the girl’s death. Initially, the five year old had been brought to the clinic because she had fallen and broken her arm. The coroner’s report states that while at the clinic the girl was given the local anesthetic, lidocaine, but the dosage given was too large, causing her death.

If something like this happened to one of your loved ones, what would your legal rights be in this situation?

In Georgia, doctors, nurses, and clinics are licensed by the state. Clinics, doctors, and nurses are required to follow accepted safe medical practices while treating patients. There should be some kind of safety protocols for the doctors and nurses to follow when ordering and administering any drugs for a patient, particularly those that could cause death if administered incorrectly.

In this tragic case, someone at the clinic acted negligently in administering the lethal dose of lidocaine. If not for the negligent act, the young girl would be fine. Because of this negligence, the girl’s parents may have a good basis for a lawsuit against the clinic, against the doctor who treated the girl, and potentially against any nurses who also treated the girl.

These types of cases are complex. You should never try to negotiate with an insurance company or with one of their attorneys without having an attorney yourself. When selecting an attorney, you want one that has experience, both at negotiating with insurance companies and trial experience. You want an attorney who will work diligently and tirelessly for you, an attorney who cares about you and your case.

The attorneys at The Williams Litigation Group are just the kinds of attorneys you need on your side when facing tragic situations. So, if you, or anyone you know, is facing such a situation please call the attorneys of The Williams Litigation Group.
